Parks

Hedrick has several recreational parks including, Circle Memorial Park, City Park, Perkins Memorial Park, Tennis Courts & Ball Diamonds. Circle Memorial Park is located center of Park Street. City Park is located south of Hwy. 149 and has limited camping, a shelter, a basketball court, a new bathroom, and new playground equipment. (Playground equipment pictured to the left. To see a enlarged picture click here.) Perkins Memorial Park is located south of Lake Street. Tennis Courts & Ball Diamonds are located at 2nd & Prairie.

Utilities

Hedrick offers its own water and sewer systems, and the following utilities, garbage/recycling pickup (Friday A.M.), Mid-American Energy (gas), Alliant Energy (electric), Starwest Cable (TV), Iowa Telecom(telephone), and Regional Enterprises, Inc. (wireless internet).

Emergency Services

Hedrick has a 911 emergency system. Hedrick's Volunteer Fire Department consists of community members who give of their time day or night, to help those in need. They are trained professionals who respond to emergency calls in Hedrick and the surrounding area. The Fire Department is located on Main Street. First Responders is a volunteer emergency medical team, which began serving Hedrick and the surrounding area in April, 1980, after intensive training with the Keokuk County Ambulance Service. The team responds with an ambulance or privately, to answer emergency medical calls, offering assistance ranging from car accidents to heart attacks, providing primary care and CPR where necessary.(Emergency vehicles pictured to the left. Civic Center

The Carl Craft Civic Center is located at the corner of 2nd and Prairie Street. This building which is available for rent has a theatrical stage, full basketball court, kitchen facilities, public restrooms, and an additional area for seating with tables and chairs. This is a large facility which is often used for basketball tournaments, alumni events, auctions, and wedding receptions. Library

Hedrick's first Library was started in 1923 and it is currently located in the Community Center at 109 N. Main Street. The library has a large variety of literatures to choose from including , books, videos, tapes, and magazines. It also has a nice children section, which provides a variety of summer reading programs. (Library pictured to the left. To see a enlarged picture click here.)

Hedrick Housing

As a project of the Hedrick Betterment organization, Hedrick Housing Inc. was formed in 1975. The purpose is to build and rent affordable housing for the community's senior citizens. All expenses except telephone are included in the rent and the outside problems of snow removal, lawn care, etc. are provided.(Hedrick Housing pictured to the left. Museum

The Hedrick House was donated by Marilyn Berry. This museum is one of the first homes built in Hedrick. It has been restored back to its original condition and is furnished with many antiques from this era. (Museum pictured to the left. To see a enlarged picture click here.)




Community Center

Is located at 109 N. Main Street and is used for community events. It is also available for rent to private parties and organizations. This facility has a nice large kitchen area, seating area, which includes tables and chairs, and public restrooms.
